Become a better songwriter in just 3 months!  This course offers a chance to learn common techniques used to write better melodies and chord progressions.  A bit of music theory will be presented to supplement some of the concepts.  Students will be able to share songs with each other and add constructive ideas to each others work.  The course includes a recording session during the last week where each student gets to record one of their songs.  There is no quick fix or trick to write a hit song, but through this class you will learn how to get out of songwriting ruts, manipulate harmony and melody to fit the mood, and analyze hit songs to understand what makes them great.  Materials required:The Songwriter's Workshop: Harmony, Melody in Songwriting: Tools and Techniques for Writing Hit Songs (will be purchased for you and given at the first class)

Price (including materials) - $225

"I took Pat's songwriting class a couple months ago. Learned a lot of stuff I should have learned before I sat down and tried to write a song. His class---based on harmony and melody Berklee books--show you what other songwriters do and have done.

If you're a guitar player, it expands your world into percussion, different rhythms, thinking about additional instrumentation, etc. Best part is Pat is there, guitar or piano in hand (latter must get heavy after a while) showing you concepts and ideas as you go along.

If you want to be a better songwriter, you won't regret the time you spend with Pat."

"A willing and wanting guitar student, whether raw beginner or 30 year stagnant veteran like me, must find a teacher that possesses a genuine, unconditional grasp of music, and most importantly, the skill to effectively communicate the lesson to ensure progress and continually meet the student's goals.  Patrick is this teacher.  Whether you are reaching for your first or the next level, Patrick provides you the opportunity to go beyond your expectations."
